No Strings Attached: Puppetry, Performance and Digital assemblage
TV Lab Productions Workshop Series/ TVLab
Yiorgos Karakantzas
Facilitated by Yiorgos Karakantzas, director of Anima Theatre, the workshop investigated puppetry as a speculative medium for exploring identity, transformation, and the constructed body. Engaging with the hybridization of human forms, objects, and materials, participants crafted full-body puppets that probed theoretical and material questions around representation, metamorphosis, and movement. Supported by puppet fabricator Alma Roccella, the workshop culminated in an informal performance, offering a dynamic platform for dialogue at the intersection of art, craft, and critical inquiry.
By positioning puppetry within a broader transdisciplinary framework, the workshop made participants reimagine embodiment and explore the emergent relationships between materiality, identity, and agency.
